Mayor to introduce codification package consolidating multiple Lebanon City ordinances

The mayor informed council at the Jan. 29 pre-council that a codification package consolidating and updating multiple city ordinances will be introduced at the next formal meeting.

The package, described as a routine annual exercise, would fold several recent and proposed changes into the city's codified ordinance book. Items listed include adding Juneteenth as a parking-meter holiday, revisions to the vaping definition and related fees, certain tax-levy ordinance adjustments, amendments to the firemen's pension plan for cost-of-living adjustments, stormwater-management rules, a carbon-monoxide alarm amendment and new regulations affecting the dog park at Cullman Memorial Park.

"This is something that we do every year," the mayor said, describing the codification as an administrative step to compile definitions and regulatory changes into a single, consolidated code.

A press member asked whether the city uses an outside service for codification; staff confirmed the use of an external codification service to prepare the consolidated document for introduction. No substantive policy changes requiring immediate council action were finalized at the pre-council; the ordinance package is scheduled for introduction on Monday and will be available for council review at that time.

Council members raised no substantive objections during the pre-council review and the mayor said staff would proceed with the standard introduction process.
