Oak Lawn swears in Officer Garcia as new police patrol officer

Officer Garcia was sworn in at the Nov. 26 meeting as a lateral transfer to the Oak Lawn Police Department and is expected to begin field training and join patrol within weeks, the chief said.
At the start of Tuesday’s meeting the Oak Lawn Police Department presented an oath of office for Officer Garcia, a lateral transfer who is already a certified police officer.
Chief (unnamed) introduced Garcia and said he will enter field training after the swearing and should be on patrol within a couple of weeks. Officer Garcia recited the standard patrol-officer oath to support the U.S. Constitution and the Illinois state constitution and to faithfully discharge his duties.
Trustees and the mayor congratulated Garcia after the oath. The chief noted Garcia’s family was not able to attend the meeting.
