The Silver Falls SD 4J board heard on Friday that broken roof trusses at Robert Frost Elementary prompted an emergency inspection and temporary repairs, and that the district is fast-tracking a deeper facilities assessment to guide longer-term work.
Kim, the district staff member who presented the report, said engineers from ZCS were on site within an hour of the December 3 report and contractors began repairs the same day. "The building has been cleared by the engineer. It's completely safe to be in," Kim told the board, adding that temporary bracing was installed to allow students to return while engineers finalize a permanent plan.
