Tom reported on the RentalReady program and technology upgrades tied to inspection enforcement.
He said the expanded RentalReady regulations were implemented May 1 and that by February staff will have six to eight months of inspection data to present in a study session. Changes to inspection procedures require more data capture; staff are retooling the CityWorks portal and building a new customer portal so inspectors can upload pass/fail photos and so the portal will integrate with utility enforcement for rental turn‑ons (targeted to take effect in spring). "We changed a lot of things on the inspection side where they upload all pass and all fail," Tom said, adding that the new portal will allow photos for failed inspections.
Committee members discussed timing for an audit and study session: some suggested waiting until the updated portal and the utility integration are in place so the audit or review can reflect the new workflow and data.
Next steps: staff will present a study session on RentalReady with the collected inspection data in February and continue the CityWorks retooling work to enable photo uploads and utility enforcement integration.
