Flat Rock’s police chief introduced two new officers and promoted a longtime supervisor during the city council meeting.
The chief said Officer Griffin Guillermo and Officer Chris Murray joined the department as lateral transfers and are on solo patrol after completing field training. He announced the promotion of Jeremy Mullins from corporal to sergeant, noting Mullins’s roles as a field training officer, firearms instructor and evidence technician.
The chief also introduced John Martin as the department chaplain and described Martin’s background: degrees from Eastern Michigan University, a commission in the U.S. Army Reserve, 25 years with the Lincoln Park Police Department, a master of divinity and clinical pastoral education. The chief said Martin will join the city’s critical-incident response and Downriver mutual-aid callout teams to offer support to first responders.
“Their arrival and Sergeant Mullins’s promotion are great additions to our department,” the chief said when introducing the staff and thanking the council. The presentation emphasized training and mutual-aid roles the new personnel will play.
Council members received the introductions and offered brief congratulations. No formal vote was required for the personnel announcements.
