Murrieta to run 2025 swim programs at high‑school pool from June through September

Recreation Supervisor Victor Patino told the commission the city’s 2025 aquatics season will run June 7 through Sept. 28, with primary programming from June 7 through Aug. 10. The department will operate out of the high‑school pool under an agreement with the school district and will offer public swim, lap swim, water exercise and swim lessons for all ages.
Patino said Swan Aquatics is the vendor expected to provide lifeguard services and swim‑lesson instruction; staff are still recruiting instructors through vendors and, if none are available for a given offering, will provide designated times (for example senior swim) instead. Admissions will range from $1 to $5 per visit; resident punch passes are $20 while nonresident punch passes are $40.
Staff emphasized that the school facility is shared with school teams and other community users, so programming will be concentrated Saturday–Tuesday and limited after Aug. 10 when school schedules reduce availability. Patino described efforts to boost participation through targeted social posts, on‑site banners and other outreach.
Commissioners asked about capacity and multi‑site options; staff said Vista’s pool offers larger capacity than Kellogg’s and that splitting programs across multiple pools could confuse residents and strain staff resources. The Commission did not take formal action; staff noted they will continue coordinating schedules and outreach.
