Commission approves Aug. 20 minutes; adds disc-golf relocation and e-bike safety to next agenda

At the start of the meeting a commissioner moved to approve the commission’s Aug. 20, 2025 regular meeting minutes; another commissioner seconded and the motion carried with a recorded statement of “4 in favor.”
Later in the meeting, several commissioners asked that the next Parks and Recreation agenda include a discussion about moving or adjusting the Rotary Park disc-golf course to reduce conflicts with picnickers and park users. One commissioner described discs being thrown near picnic areas, into trees and toward roadways, and asked for consideration of relocating some baskets to safer locations.
Commissioners also raised concerns about e-bikes in the park, particularly higher-speed models. A commissioner said the variety of e-bike speeds and types has created unsafe interactions with pedestrians, especially children and people walking dogs, and suggested staff review which classes of e-bikes should be permitted in park spaces. Superintendent David Heath agreed to place both items on the next agenda for review and discussion.
