Martinsville council waives second reading, adopts salary ordinance affecting clerical positions

Councillor Susie Lipps moved to waive the usual two-reading requirement and advance the ordinance to a vote; the council confirmed unanimity was required and indicated assent. Lipps then moved to accept the ordinance; the motion was seconded and approved. Mayor Acosta and council members voted in favor; no dissents were recorded.
The council did not specify exact new hourly rates on the record during the meeting packet remarks; Mr. Coffey framed the change as the outcome of prior discussions and staff recommendations. The ordinance was presented as first reading with the council exercising a unanimous waiver to adopt on the same night.
