Kiski Area SD board approves routine business, hires coaches and accepts reports

The Kiski Area School District board approved a series of routine agenda items and personnel actions during its legislative meeting.

The board accepted board representative reports and reports to the board, approved minutes, and approved personnel consent items 10.1–10.7 and finance items 11.1–11.3 by voice votes. Legislation items 12.1–12.2 and bills 13.1–13.3 were approved as presented. The board added student activities items to hire Braden Timmons as head football coach (item 14.5) and Joel Miller as head varsity volleyball coach (item 14.6); the board approved student activities 14.1–14.6 by motion.

Separately, construction items on the agenda were moved to individual roll-call votes at a director’s request; the board approved item 16.1 (PJ **** contract extension) and item 16.2 (passed 5–4). Directors who voted no on construction items said they were reluctant to authorize additional taxpayer money until outstanding leaks and completion issues are resolved.

No public comment speakers were registered on agenda or non-agenda items.

The board adjourned and announced an executive session to continue discussion of the construction project after the meeting.
