Jeff Rath addressed the council during the public comment period to announce a run for county commissioner and outlined his background and priorities.
Rath, who gave his address as 1585 Greer Drive West, Newark, said he had "served at Newark City Council" for 16 years working on budgets, infrastructure, land use and economic development, and that experience prepared him to lead on long-term planning and accountability. He told the council he wants growth to be managed responsibly to support jobs while protecting farmland, neighborhoods and quality of life.
The presiding officer thanked Rath and wished him luck with his campaign. Rath’s remarks were delivered as citizen comment; no council action was taken in response.
