The Town of Davie appointed Dr. Daniel Alfonso to fill the District 2 town council vacancy after the town clerk certified two applicants, Dr. Daniel Alfonso and Louis Arbelo, as qualified. A council member moved to appoint Dr. Alfonso, the motion was seconded, and a roll-call vote approved the appointment.
Mayor Paul recommended the swearing-in ceremony take place before the March 4 CRA and town council meetings at 5:30 p.m. so the appointee could immediately participate as a board and council member that evening. Dr. Alfonso addressed the council and thanked members for the appointment, saying he would “work with you and the administration to represent the residents of the district, as best as I can, in a collaborative manner.”
Council members and staff congratulated both applicants and asked Dr. Alfonso to coordinate with the town clerk to arrange the swearing-in and an orientation with department directors.
