Staff said the grant will provide materials and poles for improvements at Belmont & Custer, Williams & Custer, and 12th & Dearborn. The city will be responsible for installation labor and any local installation costs while the grant covers the signs and poles, estimated at roughly $7,000—$8,000 worth of materials.
A councilmember moved to approve the HRUR grant agreement and to authorize Mayor Rawlings to execute associated documents; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the project is essentially a materials grant that reduces the city's capital outlay for signage while staff will schedule installation within normal work hours.
Council members asked about labor impacts; staff said installation will be covered by existing personnel time and not require new hiring.
