Council approves utility easement dedication to protect sewer line at Ewald Elementary

Augusta— The City Council approved a utility easement dedication at 2340 Greyhound Drive to protect an existing sewer line serving Ewald Elementary.
Sam Cooper, city planner, told council staff identified an existing 20-by-20-foot easement on the school's plat and requested an extension of easement protection over an unprotected section of the line, much of which lies under a school parking area. Cooper said the school district and the superintendent's signature are part of the process and that the district's engineering and architectural firms have been involved.
A councilmember moved to approve the utility easement dedication as legally described in Exhibit A; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff said the easement will protect city infrastructure and prevent future development that could complicate maintenance or access to the sewer line.
