The Prattville City Council on Feb. 17 voted to hold a proposed services agreement with the Otago Bridal Public Library until the March 3 council meeting to allow the city attorney time to review changes submitted by the library board and return recommended edits to the council.
Council members said the library’s attorney returned a draft mid-week and the city attorney had not yet finished his review. Several councilors said a short delay would allow legal review and permit the full council to see the attorney’s recommendations before authorizing the mayor to sign.
During discussion, councilors compared the library contract to the city’s other vendor contracts and noted the city manages roughly 20 contracts-for-service. City staff and the city attorney said they would circulate the reviewed contract to the council before the March 3 meeting.
The motion to hold carried unanimously. The resolution to authorize the mayor to sign the contract remains on the agenda for March 3 pending legal review and any requested modifications.
