District staff said Hunt and Sons delivered the tank pending board approval and will supply diesel directly to the district’s buses; the arrangement is structured as a loan of equipment while the district continues to buy fuel from Hunt and Sons. The equipment was described as a convenience and a monitoring improvement: drivers will use Hunt and Sons fuel cards at the district terminal so staff can track per-vehicle usage.
Trustees questioned logistics and risk. One asked whether a single pump and 1,000 gallons would meet demand; staff replied the district averages less than 1,000 gallons per week and Hunt and Sons agreed to provide a larger or additional unit if utilization demands it. Trustees also asked about termination terms: the agreement can be ended with 60 days written notice and the vendor would remove equipment at no cost, staff said. Trustees asked if other fuel providers were solicited; the presenter said Hunt and Sons was the only vendor able to serve the district safely given bus access constraints.
Trustees asked whether the arrangement would lower fuel costs; staff said they will analyze comparative costs and report back. The board approved the equipment agreement after discussion, and staff agreed to provide a follow-up report on utilization and cost savings after an initial trial period.
