Officials warned that the assigned counsel program will exceed its 2025 budget (budgeted $950,000; projected closer to $1.2 million) because a $158/hour rate became effective April 1, 2023. Staff said a fund-balance transfer will be required and a resolution will be presented next month to address the shortfall.
