The Daggett County Municipal Building Authority on Feb. 17 approved a modification to its master service agreement with Union Telephone to add a dedicated 1 gigabit-per-second (1 Gbps) up/down internet line for the new Daggett County Health, Business and Community Center.
The amendment, described in the meeting as a service-order addendum to the county's master agreement, was explained by an unidentified staff speaker who said Union Telephone escalated the request through its organization and "price matched" the line to a lower monthly rate. The speaker said the dedicated line will be apportioned among the clinic and other providers; each provider will pay their portion through existing rental agreements.
The presenter described the service as "1 gig up, 1 gig down" and said installation would be a one-time charge. During the discussion the presenter referenced an internal execution code (17655) that meeting participants called a likely vendor-system coding issue. The meeting record lists agreement number 2102036 as the contract identifier.
An unidentified board member moved to approve the service order/addendum and a second was recorded. The motion was approved by voice vote with affirmations of "Aye." Following the vote, participants confirmed a copy of the signed agreement will be provided to the clerk's office; one board member asked whether the clerk needed an original or a photocopy and the chair said she had been in communication with the clerk and that a copy would suffice.
"They were able to take it to the C level of their organization to price match and get us a much better deal," an unidentified presenter said, explaining how the vendor reduced costs for the dedicated line.
The agreement was approved during the meeting; the authority did not provide additional budgetary detail during the discussion. The board adjourned at 09:45.
