Bryan County approves multiple rezonings, conditional alcohol license and appointments

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners on March 11 approved a slate of land-use and administrative actions, including two zoning changes, a conditional alcohol-beverage license and reappointments to local advisory panels.
The board approved a second-reading rezoning of Parcel 01401106 (about 5 acres on IG Lanier Road) from A-5 Agricultural to RR-1.5 rural residential to enable a minor subdivision limited to no more than three parcels. Planning staff told commissioners the parcel is in the county’s low-density comprehensive-plan area and planning and zoning recommended approval. The motion carried by voice vote.
The board also approved rezoning an approximately 1.4-acre portion of the Dunham Marsh Planned Development from PD to RR-1 to permit construction of a single-family home; RJ Reynolds Construction’s Jake Reynolds told the board the plan is for "a single family home, about 3,000 square feet" to be served by a private well and septic. The motion to rezone carried by voice vote.
In separate action, the board approved an alcohol beverage license for Sai Shakti Package Inc., doing business as Black Creek Package Store, to permit off-premise sales of beer, wine and distilled spirits at 8835 Highway 280. The board added a condition that the premises may not be occupied or opened for business until the county issues a certificate of occupancy.
The board also reappointed Sheriff Mark Crow, Derek Howard, Wendy Futch and Catherine Downs to the Bryan County Local Victims Assistance Program advisory board for two-year terms that expire in 2027. Bob Floyd was reappointed to the Bryan County Board of Assessors for a term running 03/31/2025–03/31/2031.
