At the Office of Early Childhood webinar, Haley Scott (Family Support Unit, Home Visiting) outlined Mind Over Mood, a perinatal mental‑health initiative operated in partnership with UConn Health and offered through OEC home‑visiting sites.
Scott said OEC has "over 42" home‑visiting sites across Connecticut that can screen parents with the Edinburgh Depression Scale and refer those who screen positive to Mind Over Mood therapists. She described a therapist partnership network of Husky‑credentialed clinicians, a 16‑session home‑visiting therapy option provided by UConn Health, and consultation services for home visitors and supervisors to support clinical decision‑making.
The program design pairs home visitors and therapists in a parallel, team‑based approach: home visitors identify needs and engage families, and Mind Over Mood therapists provide clinical support and psychotherapy either virtually or in person. Scott noted the program provides a pathway for mothers without insurance to access services through the UConn Health‑linked therapist network.
Panelists and presenters encouraged providers to use the OEC home‑visiting site map to find local program offerings and to consult the OEC behavioral‑health resource page for referral details and training materials.
Scott said the initiative focuses on perinatal clinical needs (during pregnancy, postpartum and early parenting) so families can get timely support where they live.
