Segay asked officials to ensure village resources are protected and to prioritize residents who are already in need, saying local services and budgets were under strain.
Roman Golash (418 East Juniper Drive) also addressed the council and praised the police department for its quick response when the bus arrived at the train station. Golash characterized the situation as a federal problem and said public-safety concerns in Chicago are driving impacts into suburban communities.
Council members did not take immediate action during public comment; both speakers asked for the issue to be tracked and publicly reported by village staff.
