House Calendar and Rules advances 24 bills to Monday calendars; HB 1805 sent back to finance subcommittee

Several bills were placed on Monday's regular calendar when members were instructed to notify the clerk if they intended to register no votes. The committee recorded placement for measures including House Joint Resolution 790 (Rep. Ashley), House Bills 1479 (Chairman Bolsa), 1466 (Chairman Sopiki), 1691 (Rep. Cheryl), 1674 (Rep. Stinnett) and 2011 (Chairman White), among others. A subset of bills—including House Bills 1744 (Chairman Bong), 1194 (Chairman Supiki), 359 (Leader Lambeth), 1546 (Chair McCollum), 957 (Rep. Slater) and 1492 (Chairman Slater)—were placed on the regular calendar.
House Leader Leonard Lambert interjected briefly during the session, praising the current chair's management of the process: "I just wanted to kind of note just for public consumption here that you got much stronger as a chairman after the former chairman showed you how it was done," he said. The chair responded and thanked Leader Lambert by name.
The meeting concluded after the committee completed the 24-item calendar; a motion to adjourn was made and carried.
What happens next: bills placed on Monday's consent calendar typically advance with no additional committee action unless a member registers opposition; bills placed on the regular calendar may appear on the floor calendar for debate or further procedural steps. HB 1805 will return to the finance subcommittee for additional consideration.
