The Williamston Community Schools board on Feb. 2 authorized multiple facility-related actions tied to the district’s 2024 bond and received updates on upcoming construction.
The board approved a pool pack installation package for the high school pool with a not-to-exceed installation cost of $388,065, to be paid from the 2024 bond. District staff said the district had already purchased the major equipment items (air handler and condenser) and the approved package covers installation work including roofing, structural reinforcement and electrical connections.
Superintendent staff reported that temporary parking at Explorer is planned on or about Feb. 16 to compensate for spaces lost when construction fencing is installed later in the month; construction activity is expected to commence around March 2. Staff said they revised proposed fencing placement to preserve a safe-route sidewalk between the middle and elementary campuses by moving fencing to the east side so the sidewalk can remain in use with a minor detour.
The board also approved the Williamston Baseball Boosters’ batting cage roof project, which will be coordinated and paid for by the boosters. That motion passed unanimously on roll call.
All bond-funded approvals at the meeting were presented as part of planned capital improvements. The board did not identify specific contractors or vendor contract numbers in the public motion language; staff will carry out procurement and scheduling steps following these approvals.
