Mister Schultz told the operations committee that preliminary planning for the 2026–27 budget has begun and that staff have started exploratory conversations with advisors about projects that could be included in a referendum. "The amount discussed was approximately 68,000,000 to remain tax neutral," Schultz said, and he said staff would provide detailed modeling of tax impacts if the board chose a smaller referendum amount.
Schultz noted that a smaller bond will come off in 2027 and a larger one in 2029, which staff said factors into timing and tax-impact calculations. The committee discussed outreach and said it will work with advisors and stakeholders to refine scope and costs before bringing options to the full board.
No formal referendum resolution was proposed at the meeting; Schultz said this was an early planning step and that additional financial scenarios will be provided at a future meeting.
