Lassen County supervisors table District 5 Fair Advisory Board appointments until September

The Lassen County Board of Supervisors on Thursday deferred appointments to the Fair Advisory Board for District 5 after discussion about process, applicant outreach and recent resignations.
Deputy Clerk Michelle Idorogan explained the vacancy‑posting procedures and said the vacancy for the Fair Advisory Board had been posted and that two applications had been received for District 5. Multiple supervisors noted several recent resignations on the fair board and said they wanted time to consult prospective appointees and ensure adequate candidates to secure a quorum for upcoming advisory‑board meetings.
Morgan Lempel (formerly Hester), one of the applicants present, introduced herself, citing longtime county ties, community involvement with 4‑H and FFA, and current service as vice president of the Chamber of Commerce. Supervisors praised her community background but several said they were not prepared to make a District 5 appointment at that meeting.
Supervisor Ingram moved to table District 5 appointments until the Fair Advisory Board’s next scheduled meeting on Sept. 9 so supervisors could consider applicants and allow the clerk to collect any additional applications; Supervisor Scanlon seconded the motion. The motion carried by voice vote with Supervisor Bridges recorded as opposed.
Next steps: Deputy Clerk Idorogan will accept additional applications up until the day the item is called and will re‑agendaize the appointment for the Sept. 9 meeting. Supervisors asked that applicants reach out to district supervisors to introduce themselves before the next meeting.
