Oak Lawn trustees approve consent agenda, OK police vehicles and joint IDOT funding agreement

Oak Lawn’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously Jan. 27 to approve a consent agenda that authorized vehicle purchases for the police department, a landscape contract, a joint funding agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation and routine hiring and event approvals.
The board approved Resolution 26-02-10 to waive competitive bidding and authorize purchase of one 2025 Ford F-150 and four 2026 Ford police interceptor utility vehicles for use by the Oak Lawn Police Department at a price “not to exceed $249,126.37.” The board also approved Resolution 26-02-11 for landscape work with Lehi Construction Services and Resolution 26-02-12, a joint funding agreement with IDOT to use local grant funds for a 95th Street downtown lighting upgrade between 69th Avenue and 54th Avenue and along Illinois Route 50 to Pulaski Road.
The consent agenda also included approval for the Oak Lawn Raiders winter picnic (village resources cost $401.64 and a fee waiver of that amount), and direction to the Fire and Police Commission to hire two patrol officers from the current eligibility list.
During the motion to approve, trustees corrected the picnic date to Sunday, Feb. 15. The motion to approve the consent agenda passed on roll-call with Trustees Pembroke, Mallow, Stalker, Desmond and Sock voting yes.
Separately, the village clerk presented Disbursement Resolution No. 2026-2D, dated Jan. 27, 2026, in the amount of $3,458,299.27. A motion to pay the bills passed on roll call with the same recorded yes votes.
The board did not debate alternatives to the vehicle purchase or the IDOT funding agreement during the public meeting. Next procedural steps for the contracts and vehicle procurement will follow the village’s purchasing and contracting processes established in the approved resolutions.
