A county staff member explained that the applications cover intersection work at Route 75 and Green Springs Church Road (widening and a turn lane) and improvements at US 11 and Route 91 (additional turn lanes). The staff presentation said VDOT requires a formal local governing-body endorsement for the 2024 Smart Scale application round.
Supervisor Bennington moved to adopt resolution "20 20 four-twenty 3" and Supervisor Ball seconded. The board approved the resolution by voice vote, 7–0, which staff said authorizes the county to be listed as the local sponsor and proceed with submittal.
The endorsement authorizes county staff to carry the applications forward with VDOT’s Smart Scale process; final construction and funding depends on VDOT scoring and subsequent agreements.
