The public hearing record showed no registered opposition and the planning commission had recommended approval by a 7–0 vote. County staff member Mr. Richardson described the project footprint and neighborhood context, saying the proposed building would sit behind two existing buildings on Taylor Place and "it's intended to be climate controlled." He noted neighboring commercial uses along US 11 and a residence to the south.
David Eskridge, who identified himself as the facility operator, told the board he was "born and raised here," said the lot had been used for storage historically, and offered to answer questions about access and operations.
Supervisor McCall moved to approve the permit and Supervisor Ball seconded. Supervisors who spoke during the consideration described the existing units as "nice" and well maintained. The board approved the permit by voice vote, 7–0.
With formal approval complete, the applicant may proceed with any required building permits and site work subject to the county's permitting process.
