The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a special-exception permit for About Face Aesthetics and Skin Care LLC to operate a medical weight-loss clinic on about 9.33 acres at 2534 Mendota Road in Mendota.
Mr. Richardson presented the application on behalf of the applicant and said the property, owned by the Mendota Community Association and next to the community center, has been used as a health clinic in the past and has been vacant for several years. He said the planning commission recommended approval by a 6-0 vote. The applicant plans to staff the clinic with two to three employees and operate primarily on Thursdays (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.). During the planning commission hearing a church representative voiced questions and sought confirmation that the clinic was not a methadone clinic; board members said those concerns were addressed.
A board member noted the clinic would generate lease revenue for the community association and described the proposed use as nonintrusive. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the special-exception permit; the motion passed by a recorded vote of 6-0.
