William King Arts Center tells supervisors renovation is near completion; 'Unleashing the Wolves' set for May 2026

Betsy White, director of the William King Arts Center, told the Washington County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 12 that renovation milestones have been reached and the museum is preparing to open new campus elements.
"We are now 100% as of today," White said, noting that the front terraces are finished, pilings for a new wing were about to be driven and the mechanical, chiller and generator work is underway. White described plans for an expanded campus that will include an amphitheater, walking trails, an events lawn and a sculpture walk.
White said the center will house the World Collection of Animal Art and that the museum will stage a major celebration titled "Unleashing the Wolves" in May 2026 to inaugurate the expanded campus. She also previewed a spring traveling show from the National Guitar Museum and said staff are collaborating with regional partners such as The Crooked Road and the Birthplace of Country Music on programming.
Board members responded with praise and asked the public to visit once exhibits open. The update emphasized the museum’s role as a cultural and economic asset for Washington County and provided timing for next phases of construction and exhibition planning.
