The Daggett County Commission approved a $10,000 purchase order with KUTV (Channel 2) to participate in the station’s road-tripping segments, with the county designating Tourist Redevelopment/Tourism (TRT) funds to cover most of the cost.
Unidentified Speaker (S6) described the plan: the KUTV package includes multiple live and pre-filmed segments; staff hoped to recover part of the cost by offering paid segment slots to local businesses (several businesses had already expressed interest). The estimated air date for the feature is June 26, and KUTV would perform pre-filming the week before the air date. An optional Boise add-on to extend marketing into a larger driving market was discussed at an incremental cost (roughly $3,000). The agreed purchase would obligate $6,500 from TRT after anticipated business offsets and donated room credits.
Commissioners asked about viewership and whether the expense fits TRT marketing objectives. Unidentified Speaker (S3) asked logistical questions about scheduling and event timing; Unidentified Speaker (S2) moved/confirmed approval. The motion carried by voice vote.
Staff will pursue business participation to offset costs and finalize scheduling with KUTV.
