"As the SCA reflects this year on our 30 years of service to the counties of our region, we look forward to what's come as our region remains as a hub for investment and job creation," Steve Murdaugh, SCA chairman, wrote in the SCA's February newsletter summarizing recent announcements.
BCTV reported that the South Carolina Department of Commerce recorded $9.12 billion in announced capital investment and more than 8,100 new jobs statewide in 2025, the third‑highest year for industry recruitment on record. In the SCA's seven‑county region (Beaufort, Hampton, Jasper, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell and Colloton), the SCA said 16 projects announced in 2025 totaled $531.7 million in capital investment and created approximately 1,144 new jobs.
The SCA told BCTV the organization focuses on attracting and expanding investments in automotive, aerospace and manufacturing industries; BCTV also cited local assets such as Sea Pines Resort (Hilton Head) and Berkeley Hall Club (Bluffton) as regional economic draws.
The SCA is a nonprofit regional economic development organization founded in 1966 that serves seven Lowcountry counties, according to the broadcast.
