The Marysville Exempted Village School District board opened its meeting by recognizing dozens of students for work on STEM Solutions, the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) design challenge and the state Invention Convention.
Superintendent Doctor Howard introduced Principal Scott Bennett, who named student groups and the community partners they worked with — including Second Chance Thrift Store, Union County Health Department, Marysville Fire, Marysville Library, Memorial Health and local businesses — and noted several teams are advancing to state competition. Bennett also recognized a past state champion who entered an invention convention project built around alternative power for the International Space Station.
The board later presented employee‑of‑the‑month recognitions: Becky Niekamp (February), head cook at the Early College High School (absent), and Lori Potter (January), a clinic aide at Naven Elementary, who received a certificate and praise for her daily care and responsiveness to students.
The board and superintendent thanked community partners and coaches, and asked the audience to hold a photograph session with FFA and other student representatives after a later proclamation vote.
What’s next: The recognized student teams could advance to state competitions; the board scheduled no further action on recognitions beyond certificates and photos.
