Senate committee advances several state board appointments, including a new pharmacist

Timothy F. Genelkor, nominated from the 4th Congressional District to the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy, was sworn in and described his pharmacy career and education, including a pharmacy degree from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and recent work as director of retail and specialty pharmacy services at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. "I look forward to working with fellow board members and board staff to ensure that we are positioning our profession to deliver unparalleled care to citizens across the Palmetto State," Genelkor said during brief opening remarks. After standard committee vetting questions about conflicts of interest and legal history, the committee voted in favor of a favorable report by voice vote.
The committee also approved reappointments and nominations by voice vote for: William H. Birmingham to the Board of Long Term Healthcare Administrators (describing 43 years in long‑term care operations); Elizabeth (Beth) Griffith to the Dietetic Licensure Board (more than 28 years in clinical nutrition); and Dr. Robert J. Wolfe as the general public member of the Board of Nursing (noting past service on the board and national engagement). Each nominee answered routine questions from committee staff regarding financial disclosures and potential conflicts and received praise from members.
Committee Chairman opened the meeting and conducted the oath for nominees; Mr. Hogan confirmed staff had received each candidate's personal data questionnaire and statement of economic interest, which members said had been reviewed. No roll-call tallies were recorded for these confirmations in committee minutes — all were approved by voice vote and characterized in the record as favorable reports to the Senate.
The committee adjourned after completing its agenda. The nominations now proceed to the full Senate for consideration.
