The Lewisburg Area School District board meeting opened with recognitions for fall sports athletes and a series of student‑forum presentations that administrators said will inform district planning.
Coaches and presenters recapped strong seasons: boys cross country went 18‑1 and placed ninth at states, girls cross country won District 4 and finished third at states, and the boys soccer team won the state championship. Speaker 15 described the boys soccer season as "24‑0 and 1, undefeated" and noted regional and national rankings; Speaker 9 described the girls cross country season as an "undefeated" run culminating in district and state successes.
Students who attended the forum summarized what matters to them. One student (Speaker 10) said, "This team is everything to me," describing the social and personal benefits of cross country participation. Principals reported students repeatedly praised active, hands‑on learning, music and club opportunities and asked for more recess, mobile seating in classrooms, and clearer, consistent behavior expectations from staff across grades.
At Kelly Elementary, students suggested surface changes under playground swings and asked for more pizza topping variety in cafeteria offerings. At middle school and high school forums, students highlighted the value of advisory time, club time and the SAP (student assistance) team, while also requesting clearer communication about SAP and access to supports.
Board members and administrators said they will consider the student feedback as they plan curriculum and facilities changes. Several motions and routine approvals later in the meeting were procedural and did not change core student programs discussed during the forum.
The board also acknowledged individual and team awards by asking athletes forward to receive certificates and noting an upcoming recognition at the state capitol.
