Committee advances bill extending sunsets for six professional licensing boards

Senate Bill 211, which extends sunset dates for six professional licensing entities, was reported from the Senate Finance Committee on Feb. 23 after a brief reintroduction by sponsor Jesse Bjorkman.
Bjorkman said the bill follows recommendations from the state’s 2025 audits. The boards identified for extension include the Board of Professional Counselors, the Board of Marital and Family Therapy, the Board of Psychologists and Psychological Examiners, the Board of Social Work Examiners, the Real Estate Commission, and the Certified Real Estate Appraisers Board. Legislative auditor Chris Curtis and Sobhan Raub, director of the division of corporations, businesses and professional licenses, were present for questions.
Committee action: Senator Stedman moved to report SB 211 with the attached fiscal note and individual recommendations; with no objection the motion carried and the bill passed from committee for further consideration.
Next steps: SB 211 will be forwarded with the committee report and fiscal note for subsequent floor action.
