Change order for fire flow: The board approved Change Order #1 with Double M Construction in the amount of $326,750.25 to extend a water line and install a fire hydrant north of the 250 Building to establish improved fire flow between that building and Fire Station 1. Facilities Director William Allen explained the funds and contingencies; the comptroller confirmed available funds and the board approved the change order 5‑0. The board recorded the action as a health and safety improvement to improve fire suppression capability.
Planning and subdivisions: The board approved multiple Mountain Falls items (an improvement maintenance and warranty agreement and a tentative subdivision map) and a Desert Trails Phase 2 tentative map after staff confirmed infrastructure conditions and utility 'intent to serve' letters will be satisfied as part of final maps and development agreements. Commissioners emphasized that modern road and utility standards apply to any long‑dated approvals.
Tourism branding: Tourism Director Arla Ledbetter presented campaign options and, after public comment and commissioner input, the board selected the slogan "Adventure West Of Vegas." Commissioners asked designers to avoid implying a single private property or gaming brand in artwork and directed staff to refine copy and visuals before an external launch.
Other votes: The board approved the regional planning district’s streets & highways CIP for 2025–2035; ratified a Department of Defense usage agreement for the GABS airport (allowing C‑130 training after DA review); appointed a Beatty advisory board member; and approved a $15,000 veterans‑service grant to Nevada Outreach.
