The Nye County Board of County Commissioners approved applications Oct. 1 to transfer two existing cannabis operations to DeepRoots Harvest, accepting a special‑use permit for a cultivation facility at 801 S. Panorama Road and a retail dispensary at 2370 S. Homestead Road.
Planning Director Wagner told the board the facilities previously underwent receivership and that DeepRoots — an operator headquartered in Mesquite — intends to acquire assets and retain existing employees (approximately 40). DeepRoots representative Mackenzie Warren said hours of operation and staffing will remain the same and thanked planning and the sheriff’s office for pre‑vote inspections.
Several residents raised concerns about odor from grow operations and asked about enforcement. Planning staff and the sheriff’s office said the county conducts quarterly and annual inspections, enforces odor limits and will bring renewal decisions back to the board where complaints remain open. The county pointed to the Cannabis Compliance Board for additional enforcement if needed.
Both items were approved by the board (recorded vote: carried four‑zero). Commissioners emphasized that filtration and mitigation systems must be maintained and warned that repeated complaints could prompt future action.
Next steps: staff will finalize local licensing and document conditions; annual renewals and any open complaints will be considered at future reviews.
