Elk County commissioners approve Ridgeway curb-cut revisions, renew two contracts and authorize veteran burial benefits

The board approved a renewal contract with Maximus US Services Incorporated for 2024–2026 at $5,800 per year (a 3.5 percent increase) to prepare the county's comprehensive cost allocation plan. Deputy Chief Clerk Gary Williamson explained the plan's role in allocating direct and indirect costs and noted the state reimburses a substantial portion of certain departmental costs (for example, children and youth services receives an 80 percent state reimbursement). Veterans Affairs asked the board to authorize benefits for four veteran burials, two spouse burials and one veteran paid headstone; the commissioners approved that request by voice vote.
Other items: staff noted the Act 13 spring grant round is open with a Feb. 28 application deadline and that the March 5 meeting had been canceled; the commission adjourned until March 19.
