House approves six local tax and exemption measures and extends commission on older-adult services

House bill 7045, sponsored by Representative Donovan, allows the town of Bristol to apply the owner-occupied tax rate for mixed-use properties where the residential portion is owner-occupied. The House approved the measure 63–0.
House bill 7046, also introduced for Representative Donovan, exempts from taxation the real and tangible personal property of Blythewold Inc., located at 101 Ferry Road in Bristol. The measure passed 63–0.
House bill 7047 (Representative Magall) authorizes the Little Compton town council to establish a homestead exemption for residential dwellings; it passed 63–0.
House bill 7151 (Representative Finkelman) authorizes Jamestown to expand local tax exemption ordinances for owner-occupied real property owned by persons 65 and older; the House approved the bill 64–0.
Item number 7279, a house resolution submitted by Representative Carson and recommended by the Health and Human Services Committee, extends reporting and expiration dates for a special commission studying services and coordination of state programs for older adult Rhode Islanders. Chairwoman Donovan (on behalf of the committee) said, "It's a great bill, and I recommend passage." The resolution passed 66–0.
