The Nye County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 17 continued the emergency suspension of the retail-liquor license for Sanders Family Winery and set a show‑cause hearing for Jan. 20, 2025 at 10 a.m.
Lieutenant Harry Williams of the Nye County Sheriff’s Office described an investigation that began with an anonymous tip and a subsequent inspection in late November that turned up containers and bottles indicating the winery had been repackaging commercial wine and labeling it as its own product. Williams told the board photographs and containers had been documented during the inspection.
Licensee Jack Sanders appeared and apologized, saying he had met with investigators and would "rectify this problem" and had closed his doors and started contacting suppliers. The board asked whether staff and investigators were satisfied with the investigative material and testimony and then voted to continue the suspension and set a formal show‑cause hearing so the licensee could appear with counsel and the licensee could address why the license should not be revoked.
The board’s motion set the hearing for Jan. 20, 2025 at 10 a.m. and required Sanders to appear; the suspension remains in effect until that hearing.
