Wilson County commissioners approve rezoning of 7.34-acre tract to B1 (highway business)

The Wilson County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 12 to approve rezoning request REZ-25-4, moving a 7.34-acre tract from AR (ag residential) to B1 (highway business).
Development Services Director Brea Thompson told the board Bartlett Engineering submitted the application on behalf of the property owner, identified in the record as Peggy Godwin Glover Ayers. Thompson said county water is not available at the site; future development would rely on a private well and septic systems and any commercial uses would require permits meeting state and county regulations. He said the Planning Board recommended approval at its November meeting, citing consistency with the countys economic development goals.
No members of the public asked to speak during the hearing. A commissioner moved to approve the rezoning as presented, a second was given, and the motion carried.
The approval changes the propertys base zoning category to highway business (B1) and does not itself authorize any specific commercial use; any development will need to comply with permitting and health/environmental requirements.
