The Morgan County Board of Zoning Appeals approved Richard Hasselberg's request to increase the maximum living area for an accessory dwelling unit at 1659 South Arthur Lane in Ray Township on Feb. 23.
Hasselberg said the additional space is needed to bring aging relatives closer following medical issues; he told the board the structure would be located on a large parcel with significant separation from neighbors. Staff and the Morgan County Health Department reported no objections and recommended approval, finding the request consistent with recent similar petitions.
Board members described the request as routine and appropriate for the rural parcel, and approved the variance by voice vote. The applicant may proceed with necessary permitting and utility reviews.
