Delray Beach board opens annual capital improvements comment period, seeks public input through April 20

The Delray Beach Planning & Zoning Board opened its annual capital improvements hearing on Feb. 23, inviting residents to submit ideas for capital projects costing more than $25,000.
Rebecca dos roof, representing Development Services, told the board the comment period is open through the April 20 meeting and that staff will collect comments and present a summary with Public Works for more detailed consideration. She said the city has published the current capital improvement plan on its website and that comments can be emailed to pzmail@mydelraybeach.com.
Board members pressed staff for updates about several existing projects and funding sources. Staff said capital projects are funded from a mix of the general fund, stormwater and utility funds, bonds and outside grants, and promised an update on the Marina Way seawall project at the April meeting.
Why it matters: The capital improvements budget guides which physical infrastructure projects the city will prioritize in the coming years, including seawall repairs, stormwater and transportation work, and park and tree investments. The board’s April review will give residents another chance to influence which projects are funded and how they are prioritized.
