Deputy director Rachel Downs and Brenda Strandix of the EDC (SEG 1469, SEG 1569) outlined the plan’s five strategic pillars — strategic planning and resilience, business retention and expansion, attraction and marketing, talent and workforce development, and small business support — and provided regional economic indicators through February 2024. Strandix highlighted a workforce assessment grant from SACOG and federal grant applications under consideration for South County water and wastewater infrastructure (roughly $40M from EPA and additional EDA requests).
Board members requested county‑specific splits for some statistics that are presented regionally as a two‑county MSA; staff said they will provide Yuba‑only data where available. The Board moved, seconded and approved the SEDS update and performance report.
