Sutter County Law Library to open a physical location at main branch Nov. 3

The Sutter County Board of Supervisors heard that the Sutter County Law Library will reestablish a physical location in the California Room at the main branch of the Sutter County Library.
A law library board trustee (speaker 19) said the board of trustees was reconstituted in 2022 and the new California Room location is ready; a grand opening is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3 at noon. The law library will offer two computer terminals with Westlaw access for online legal research and will build a physical collection that can be checked out through the library. The trustees and the library are working on a memorandum of understanding to provide staffing and operations, which will be presented to the board.
Trustee Deborah (speaker 19) credited community members — including Tony Farley for raising the issue with county counsel — and noted Judge Santana volunteered to help with painting; general services staff completed the work. Board members welcomed the new resource and said it will be an excellent community benefit.
Next steps: trustees will present the proposed MOU for staffing and operations to the board as planned and host the grand opening on Nov. 3.
