The Sutter County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 25 adopted a resolution recognizing the Yuba Sutter Food Policy Council and acknowledging its strategic plan to strengthen the region’s food system.
Marnie Sanders, executive director of Yuba Sutter Blue Zones, told the board the council — convened in June 2023 — developed a strategic plan focused on growing local supply chains, building community food skills, ensuring sustainable council operations, bolstering food rescue and recovery, and increasing access to affordable healthy foods. Sanders said the Food Bank is leading several efforts and the council includes nonprofit, public‑health and farming representation.
Board members offered thanks for the presentation, expressed interest in serving on the council, and approved a motion to adopt a resolution supporting the council’s work.
