The Sutter County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 28 approved a resolution authorizing an exception to the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) 180‑day waiting period to rehire a retired annuitant, Melinda Kattebergen, in a temporary extra‑help finance role in Health & Human Services.
Human Resources Director Veronica Baumgartner told the board Kattebergen retired Oct. 25, 2024, from the Health & Human Services Finance and Administration Department and that staff requested a temporary appointment at the same level for up to six months to help with accounting and budgeting during the department’s budget process. The rehired position would be limited to 10 hours per week and, according to staff, the cost will be absorbed within existing Health & Human Services budget units and will not increase the county general fund.
A motion to approve the exception was made and seconded; the measure passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
