The Sutter County Board of Supervisors administered oaths to newly elected and appointed officials, accepted certificates of election and elected its leadership for the coming year.
Donna Johnson administered the oath of office and provided a short history of the oath. Supervisors Baines, Boone and Stevens and newly appointed assessor Scriven came forward to be sworn and received Sutter County lapel pins and certificates. California State Treasurer Fiona Ma presented certificates to new members and offered resources for affordable housing, transportation and other locally funded projects.
At the start of the meeting an amended roll call was taken to reflect new members. Supervisor Baines nominated Supervisor Flores for chair; the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote, and Flores accepted. Supervisor Baines later nominated Supervisor Ziegenmeyer for vice chair; that nomination was seconded and approved. The board also elected Supervisor Baines as chair pro tempore by voice vote.
New and returning supervisors thanked families, staff and voters. Supervisor Baines, returning to the dais, pledged to "continue advocating for all residents of Sutter County." Supervisor Boone, newly elected, thanked family and campaign supporters and said he was "committed to serving every resident of Sutter County with integrity, transparency, and care." Supervisor Stevens praised staff and emphasized relationship-building with other jurisdictions.
The board then moved to routine business including approval of committee assignments and the consent calendar.
