Public support: Several community members, including Carl Tenenbaum and Nancy Pemberton, spoke in favor of renewing Alden’s contract, saying he has professionalized the office and advanced civilian oversight. Tenenbaum described Alden’s accomplishments in building bridges between the community and law enforcement.
Board comments and vote: Supervisors thanked Alden for his work, praised the relationship-building with the sheriff’s office and the Community Advisory Council, and moved to approve the contract extension; the motion passed by voice vote with the supervisors present.
Next steps: The extension takes effect Sept. 5, 2025. Alden told the board he hopes to continue progress on independent investigations and implementing Measure P goals.
