The Michigan City Historic Preservation Commission on Feb. 23 ratified two staff-approved maintenance items.
Staff reported that COA 2026-005, at 502 East 9th Street, is a front-porch replacement using like materials to rebuild the porch as it was. COA 2026-006, at 716 Spring Street, is a porch-roof replacement using the same materials and color; staff noted the roof had poor condition after a fallen tree and hail damage. Both items were added to the meeting packet as staff approvals.
A commissioner moved to approve both staff-approved COAs; the motion was seconded and carried by roll call with commissioners present voting yes. Staff confirmed that each replacement will proceed through the building-permit process and that the work matches the materials and colors described in the staff approvals.
The ratification clears the two maintenance projects to proceed through the standard permitting and inspection process.
